The Selvaggio Blu is one of the most famous and spectacular trekking routes in Europe, an iconic itinerary along Sardinia’s eastern coast between Pedra Longa and the most renowned coves of the Gulf of Orosei, such as Cala Goloritzé, Cala Mariolu, and Cala Sisine. This wild and remote route crosses towering limestone walls, karst plateaus, deep canyons, and stretches of Mediterranean scrub suspended above a crystal-clear sea.
Taking on the Selvaggio Blu trek with a certified Alpine Guide is the ideal choice to experience the adventure safely. The route is far more than a simple hiking trail: it includes exposed sections, short climbing passages, rope descents, complex navigation, and long stretches without resupply points. The Alpine Guide manages the technical aspects of the itinerary, ensures group safety, installs fixed ropes where needed, and selects the best variations according to weather conditions and the participants’ level.
Each day offers extraordinary views over the Gulf of Orosei, with panoramas ranging from white cliffs to the turquoise waters of the coves below. Overnight stays may take place in ancient shepherds’ shelters, in tents, or on the beach, turning the trek into a truly authentic outdoor adventure in Sardinia.
The guided Selvaggio Blu is suited to fit and experienced hikers seeking a demanding trek and a once-in-a-lifetime experience in one of the Mediterranean’s most unspoiled environments. With an Alpine Guide at your side, this journey becomes not only a physical challenge but an immersive exploration of Sardinia’s wildest and most spectacular landscapes.
MEETING POINT & APPROACH
The meeting point will be in Baunei. From there, depending on the type of logistics we will use, we will transfer to the accommodation where we will spend the night before the trek.
The following day we will travel to Pedra Longa, where the trekking adventure will begin.
TOUR DETAILS
Selvaggio Blu Classic with Alpine Guide and Full Logistics
We offer the classic version of the Selvaggio Blu, Sardinia’s most iconic trekking route, guided by a certified Mountain Guide and supported by a full logistics service by land and sea. This formula allows you to tackle the route safely and with maximum comfort in a wild and remote environment.
The logistics service includes two daily support points, in the morning and in the evening: the assistance staff will provide breakfast, packed lunch, and dinner, as well as transport of each participant’s duffel bag containing overnight equipment.
Day 1 – Arrival in Baunei Meeting in Baunei, transfer to the accommodation, technical briefing with the Alpine Guide, equipment check, preparation of backpacks and duffel bags. Dinner at a restaurant.
Day 2 – Pedra Longa and Monte Ginnirco Breakfast and jeep transfer to Pedra Longa. The trek begins beneath Punta Giradili, crossing the spectacular ledge to Ovile Us Piggius. The route then continues toward Monte Ginnirco with breathtaking sea views. Overnight in a shepherd’s shelter, with dinner provided by the logistics team.
Day 3 – Monte Ginnirco to Porto Cuau Second stage through wild ravines and coastal sections. Crossing the famous scale e' fueste—ancient shepherd-built ladders—and a short rock wall protected by rope with the Alpine Guide’s assistance. Overnight by the sea at Porto Cuau or Porto Pedrosu.
Day 4 – Porto Cuau to Su Tesaru Panoramic trails and strawberry-tree forests lead to Punta Salinas, a natural balcony overlooking the Aguglia of Goloritzé. Descent to Cala Goloritzé and a refreshing swim. Final technical section on fixed ropes and overnight bivouac in the forest.
Day 5 – Su Tesaru to Cala Sisine Toward Cala Mariolu and then up to Serra Lattone, the highest point of the Selvaggio Blu. Abseils, exposed ledges, and technical passages follow. Swim at Cala Mudaloru, crossing the iconic Su Feilau arch, and overnight beneath massive holm oaks.
Day 6 – Cala Sisine Final day featuring more abseils, views over Cala Biriola, crossing the Punta Plumare landslide, and fixed-rope sections until reaching the legendary Cala Sisine. Jeep transfer back to Golgo, farewell dinner, and overnight stay.
Day 7 – Departure After breakfast, arrangements for transfers to the departure airports.
This is just one possible version of the Selvaggio Blu. It can also be organized over four days, with lighter logistics, or even without logistical support. Contact me to design your Selvaggio Blu.
