Multipitch Wow

The multi-pitch climbing route Wow is located in the San Nicolò canyon, near Buggerru, on the southwestern coast of Sardinia. It's a beautiful 5-pitch climb that leads to the top of a tower overlooking Portixeddu beach, with its vast sand dunes.

Via lunga d'arrampicata Wow Buggerru Guida Alpina

The multi-pitch climbing route Wow is highly rewarding, both for its climbing and for the stunning surroundings. The route alternates slab pitches with short overhangs, starting from the canyon floor and climbing up beyond the gorge walls to reach the summit of the tower. As you ascend, the view gradually opens up, revealing a breathtaking landscape that stretches from the sea in front of Portixeddu beach to Capo Pecora and the vast sand dunes.

MEETING POINT & APPROACH

We meet at the San Nicolò beach parking lot, then we move by car to the San Nicolò Canyon parking area, where we begin the approach. After about 15 minutes of hiking, we reach the base of the first pitch.

ROUTE DETAILS

The route consists of 5 pitches with the following grades: 5c, 6a, 5c, 5c, 6a+

The route is bolted with fix anchors, but it has the feel of an alpine climb. You’ll experience a variety of climbing styles, including a long traverse on the second pitch. The rock is diverse: some sections are very compact with sharp features and pockets, while others, especially on the third pitch, require more attention. The final pitch leads right to the summit of the tower!

Descent is done by rappelling, with the second rappel being quite exposed. The descent ends back at the base of the route.
